About Me

Brian R. Walker, L.Ac.

Welcome and well met.

My name is Brian Walker. I was born in Hamilton, New York, in October of 1982. Since childhood, I have known a fascination for East Asian culture and language. Throughout my adolescence and early adulthood, I explored a multitude of martial arts disciplines, several of which exposed me to the theories of human physiology and pathophysiology as defined by Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM). I pursued a major in Mandarin Chinese at Hamilton College upon graduating from Sherburne-Earlville High School in 2001. In 2006, I moved to China, where I began formal training at Hebei Medical University that would later be applied toward my graduate studies here in the US. Over a period of four years, I attained total fluency in Mandarin Chinese and studied Tuina, a form of traditional Chinese massage, as well as Tai Chi under various mentors. I returned to the US in 2010 and worked in translation for a time before making preparations to attend graduate school. I graduated from Pacific College of Oriental Medicine (now Pacific College of Health and Science)'s Manhattan campus in December of 2018 with a Master of Science degree in Traditional Oriental Medicine. I passed my national board exams and obtained my New York State practitioner's license in summer of 2019 and incorporated my private practice, Inspira Vitas Acupuncture, PLLC later that year. I began practicing at The Bell Tree community center in 2020 and am gradually expanding my business to offer not only acupuncture and traditional Tuina massage, but dietetics, traditional herbal medicine and Qigong movement therapy.

In my spare time, I am an avid student of Permaculture, a design science most commonly applied to ecological stewardship and sustainable food production. I hope to apply the principles of regenerative agriculture to the practice of holistic medicine--as within, so without, so to speak. I firmly believe that ecological health and individual and social wellbeing are intimately and directly connected and that ours is a time in which this relationship is in urgent need of revitalization. Please reach out for more information about me or my work and thank you kindly for your interest.
